Result—

A match checks the result, not that the bet was accepted or paid.

If a round is interrupted, no hand cash-out is taken: auto cash-outs and caps still pay where the round reaches them, other bets lose at the crash. No refund.

How each game maps the floats
  • Floats: HMAC-SHA256 keyed with the server seed (its 64 characters as text) over "client seed:nonce:round". Each 4 bytes make one float b0/2^8 + b1/2^16 + b2/2^24 + b3/2^32, from 0 up to 1; one round gives 8 floats, the next round 8 more.
  • Dice (real money), ruleset dice-e6-uniform-v1: HMAC-SHA256(server seed, …) over "overdog-originals/dice/e6-uniform-v1:real:client seed:nonce:block" for blocks 0 to 7; the first 4-byte word under 4,294,960,000 gives the roll, word mod 10,000, shown as 00.00 to 99.99.
  • Dice (demo): one float gives the roll floor(f × 10,001), shown as 0.00 to 100.00.
  • Limbo: one float gives the result floor(97 ÷ f) = floor(97 × 2^32 ÷ N), N = f × 2^32 in hundredths — never under 1.00× and at most 1,000,000×.
  • Roulette: one float gives the pocket floor(f × 37), from 0 to 36.
  • Plinko: one float per row; the ball goes right when f ≥ 0.5 and left otherwise. The bucket is the number of rights, and it pays that bucket of the board's table for its rows and risk.
  • Mines: 24 floats at the game's first nonce, one per mine in order; each picks floor(f × free) among the tiles still free, numbered left to right and top to bottom.
  • Chicken: 10 floats at the game's first nonce, one per car in order; each picks floor(f × free) among the lanes still free, 1 to 20.
  • Reels: floats 1 to 3 stop the reels at floor(f × 32) on their 32-stop strips; float 4 decides the respin (round(f × 2^32) < 840 × 2^18); then one float per free cell per respin, 12 respins at most — 100 floats.

Provably fair calculator

The provably fair calculator above rebuilds a round from what the game reveals: the server seed, your client seed and the nonce, or the round hash and salt for Crash. It runs in your browser, so you verify the result yourself.

What is provably fair?

Provably fair means the house commits to a result’s inputs before you bet and lets you recompute it afterwards. You see the SHA-256 hash of a secret server seed before play, and a seed swapped after your bet would no longer match that hash.

That is the whole provably fair meaning: a result you can check, not one tilted your way. Provably fair gambling still carries a house edge, and Dice keeps its theoretical RTP of 97% either way.

How provably fair crypto casino games work

Knowing how provably fair crypto casino games work comes down to one loop: commit, bet, reveal, recompute. The same provably fair system runs every round under three rulesets.

Server seed hash, client seed and nonce

The server seed is 64 random hex characters, shown only as its SHA-256 hash until the pair rotates. The client seed is yours to set or change, and the nonce counts bets on the current pair, so each bet draws a fresh result. Rotating a pair that holds a bet reveals the old server seed and promotes the next hashed one.

The provably fair algorithm: HMAC-SHA256

The provably fair algorithm for Limbo, Plinko, Roulette, Reels, Mines and Chicken is HMAC-SHA256, keyed with the server seed over your client seed, nonce and round number. Each 4 bytes of output become one float between 0 and 1. Real-money Dice has its own ruleset: the first 32-bit word below the largest multiple of ten thousand that fits, modulo ten thousand, is the roll, so no roll is favoured.

Crash: hash chain and salt

Crash uses a hash chain instead of a seed pair: each hash is the SHA-256 of the next, and the final hash is committed before the first round. Each crash point comes from HMAC-SHA256 of the round hash with a salt fixed before play, so neither the chain nor the salt can be changed once rounds start. Crash keeps a theoretical RTP of 95%.

Provably fair bitcoin games and the inputs each needs

All the provably fair games in the lobby can be checked above if the extra settings match the ones you used. They work as provably fair bitcoin games because a BTC deposit converts to a dollar balance you move into your casino balance, and the coin never touches a result. Mines and Chicken place every mine or car from one nonce.

GameInputsHow the result is read
Dice (real money)Server seed, client seed, nonceFirst accepted 32-bit word, modulo ten thousand, gives the roll
LimboServer seed, client seed, nonce97 divided by one float, rounded down, gives the multiplier in hundredths, never below 1x
RouletteServer seed, client seed, nonceOne float times 37, rounded down, gives the pocket from 0 to 36 on a single-zero wheel
PlinkoSeeds, nonce, rows (8 to 16), risk (low, medium, high)One float per row; the ball goes right on one half or more, and the number of rights picks the bucket
MinesSeeds, nonce, mine count (1 to 24)One float per mine, placed among the tiles still free on the 25-tile grid
ChickenSeeds, nonce, cars (1, 3, 5 or 10)One float per car, placed among the lanes still free from 1 to 20
ReelsServer seed, client seed, nonceFloats 1 to 3 stop the 32-stop strips, float 4 decides the respin, then one float per free cell for up to 12 respins
CrashRound hash, saltFirst 52 bits of HMAC-SHA256 set the crash point, capped at one million times

How to use the provably fair checker

The provably fair checker above has two modes, Seed-pair games and Saved Dice bet, while Crash takes a round hash and salt. For a saved real-money Dice bet, the provably fair verifier compares the copied record with the revealed seed. If a result differs, recheck the game, nonce and settings, and never paste a wallet recovery phrase.

  1. Save the hashed server seed and set your client seed before play.
  2. Play, then rotate the seed pair to reveal the server seed.
  3. Choose Seed-pair games and your game, or the real-money Dice option.
  4. Paste the server seed, client seed, nonce, game settings and saved hash.
  5. Press Calculate and compare the result and seed hash with your records.

What provably fair verification proves

Provably fair verification proves that a result was calculated from seeds committed before your bet. It does not prove a bet was accepted or paid, and no laboratory certifies the scheme. Before winnings leave your casino balance, their bets are re-checked against this record once a seed pair holding settled bets is rotated; the bitcoin casino lobby covers the rest.

FAQ

Is bitcoin gambling provably fair?

Not automatically. Paying with bitcoin says nothing about fairness; provably fair bitcoin gambling needs a seed hash published before you bet and a way to recompute the result. Every real-money round here meets that test, and the coin that funded a bet plays no part in its outcome.

Can a predictor or hack beat provably fair games?

No. The next server seed exists only as a SHA-256 hash until you rotate the pair, and nothing can reverse that hash. Apps sold as predictors or hacks are scams, and no betting pattern changes the house edge. Our responsible gambling page sets out the risks.

Is provably fair the same as RNG certification?

No. RNG certification is a lab statement that a generator passed its tests, while provably fair random number generation lets you check every result yourself. Our scheme is not certified by any laboratory, so the proof is the calculation you rerun with the revealed seeds.

Can I check a bet from another casino here?

No. Each operator uses its own message format and mappings, so the same seeds give different results elsewhere. This calculator reproduces only our rulesets: games-floats-v1 for the seed-pair games, dice-e6-uniform-v1 for real-money Dice and crash-chain-v1 for Crash. Use each operator’s own verifier for its bets.
